His Story, Our Story
In his introduction to Acts, Luke says that Jesus’ work on earth was only just beginning when he was taken up into heaven. In other words, Jesus remains the central character in God’s story of redemption even after His departure. Acts, in other words, is His Story. It is, however, through His Church – by the Holy Spirit – that Jesus remains active in the world. As such, Acts is also Our Story. His Story is Our story … and Our Story is ultimately His Story: this is the message of the book of Acts.
