Community Meditation

Know

  • The Bible very clearly states that God is the helper of his people. Review the passages in the Psalms that state this. Read them aloud.
  • Jesus called the Holy Spirit “The Helper”. How does the Holy Spirit help us today?
  • Discuss God’s immediate help and his persevering help? Why are both actually “helpful”?

Feel

  • Describe a time when you felt helpless. What other emotions rose up in you during these times? Are all of these feelings based in the reality of who God is and his promises to us?

Live

  • What are some places of “help” you have gone to in the past that have proved less than “helpful”? Why are we slow to learn?
  • Discuss how we can preserver in following Jesus if the help God gives is not the kind of help we want. What is the role of the community in this?
  • Why is it important to remember God’s eternal purposes during life’s road trip and not lose those in daily the commutes?
