Discipleship Guide & Reflection Questions

  • Reading this week: Luke chapters 5 and 6
  • Questions for Reflection/Discussion:

ENCOURAGE:

  • When Jesus heals the paralytic in 5:17-26 He indicates that spiritual forgiveness of sins is of greater significance than physical healing. What do you make of that distinction? How might it challenge how you understand your most pressing needs right now?

CHALLENGE:

  • Reread the “Beatitudes” and “Woes” in 6:20-26. How do these “values of the Kingdom” conflict with the values of our culture? Which do you personally find hardest to embrace and why?
  • Reread 6:43-45. Consider again the Discipleship Course’s call to prioritize “being” over “doing.” How is this distinction going in your own life right now? Be honest and specific in your answer.
  • Discuss how you’re progressing with your “Rule of Life.”
