I Believe in God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth
Introduction to the Apostles' Creed
I Believe In...
God the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth
1. Read Isaiah 40:25-31 aloud together. What word or phrase about God stands out most to you?
2. On Sunday we defined proper “belief” as trust. Is your belief in God a trusting kind of faith or something else? Why so?
3. On Sunday we discussed the important unity of God’s love and power. Overemphasizing one at the expense of the other can lead us to mistaken views about God and cause us to relate to Him wrongly. Which extreme do you tend toward and why? What impact might that be having on your relationship with God?
4. As part of this teaching series, we are encouraging the church to memorize the Apostles’ Creed. Read out the Creed below and begin working to memorize it together:
I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended to the dead; on the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father;
He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
