• In looking at Jesus’ last days, recount together all the ways that he suffered during this time. Read Isaiah 53 together. What does it mean that Jesus was a “man of sorrows”?

Feeling Life Deeply

• Have you typically thought of suffering in terms of physical or emotional aspects of your life?
• Have you ever thought about how your suffering relates to God? Do you typically get angry with God about suffering? Do you go to God in pain? Feel like running away? Anyone seen anything good come from suffering?

Living with Courage

• How do you interact with others who are suffering? What can you do? What are wise things to say? Read Romans 12:9-21 and work together on drawing specific applications for times of suffering in our community.
