Community Meditation

Know

• Describe the necessity of making moral judgments in the world. How is this utterly unavoidable?
• How does the King’s Speech itself assail the idea that “not judging” means an ethical permissiveness? On the other extreme, have you observed others using not “judging” for having no convictions about anything?
• Read Romans 2:1-5 together. Describe the warning given here. Where is God’s kindness designed to lead us? Relate this to Jesus’ speck/log analogy.

Feel

• Have you been condemned at a distance by a Christian brother or sister for something you said, did, ate, drank, participated in? How’s that feel?
• How have you observed hypocritical judgment being cast on people in the name of Christ?

Live

• How can you “remove” the logs from our own eyes? How can we see things sticking out of our faces that we do not currently see? How can we overcome our own blindness?
• How was Jesus a true friend to sinners without affirming or participating in their sin? Read Luke 7:31-50, Luke 19:1-10.
