Discipleship group questions
Launching Questions
- If this is your first time gathering as a Discipleship Group, consider beginning your time together by sharing stories of how you came to trust Jesus. If you’re not a follower of Jesus, share how you came to be a part of this church/Discipleship Group.
- Describe a time when you were deeply encouraged by someone else. What made that experience so impactful?
- Describe a time when you were deeply challenged by someone else. What made that experience so impactful?
Encourage
- Regardless of how well you know each other at this point, offer encouragement to one another by pointing out what you find admirable/worth imitating in one another (consider each other’s stories which you’ve probably just heard). Ideally, see if each person can receive such input from every other person in the group.
Challenge
- Read Ephesians 4:15 aloud together. Do you tend to speak truth apart from love or attempt to love apart from speaking truth? Why might you have that tendency?
- Read James 5:19-20 aloud together. What do you think these verses mean? What might this look like in your Discipleship Group over the next several months?
- End your time by praying that God would break the barriers that keep us from encouraging and challenging one another. Pray that this D Group would to be a source of growth for each of you this semester.
