Community Meditation Questions

Growing in Knowledge

  • List together 7 ways throughout history that God’s presence has been with his people. In other words, where and how has God dwelt among them?
  • Read 1 Corinthians 10:16-22 and Revelation 3:20. Why must we not say that Jesus is not present in the sacrament of communion?
  • If the church (the gospel community by the new covenant) is the body of Christ, what does this say about our role in this life and mediating God’s presence on the earth?

Feeling Life Deeply

  • How does God “dwelling with us” speak to issues of loneliness and hopelessness? Why is “the Lord be with you” not a trivial or cliché saying?
  • If God desires to be “with us” and also desires that we be present with “one another,” what should we call it when we isolate ourselves?

Living with Courage

  • Who needs to be present with our church and in God’s presence with us? Pray for them. Pray that God redeems them and brings them into relationship with himself.
  • Have you been isolating yourself, your true self, from others? Hiding from God? What can you do to change this pattern?
