The Scriptures teach us that God’s purposes in creation and redemption were intended before the foundation of the world. In the Old Testament God made promises and set in motion his plan to save people through his many covenants and promises. In the fullness of time the Old Testament was fulfilled by a person, the promised messiah who would rescue people from bondage to sin, death and the just judgment of God. This person would be the most startling, controversial, beautiful and magnetic being to ever walk the earth. Whereas the Old Testament promised and foretold his coming, the New Testament bursts Jesus Christ onto the world scene. The Old School was foreshadowing the coming out party whereas the New School rolls out the red carpet for the Savior of the world. This summer at Jacob’s Well we will look at the various literature of the New Testament to see how all of Scripture points to, exalts and reveals to us Jesus, who is the Christ and Savior of the world.
